Now that the dust has finally settled on this competition, we can reflect on it. The first thing to say is that England did not win it because they simply weren't good enough. Forget any allegations of cheating, if you ask any member of the England squad they will tell you that they under performed and did not deserve to win the world cup. Secondly, what of Zidane's headbutt in the final? No question that the referee was right to send him off, but let's hope that he is remembered for being the majestic footballer he was rather than one moment of madness. Finally, here is my team of the tournament:
